Lewis Latimer was a draftsman and  an inventor. Latimer was born in Chelsea Massachusetts, on September  4th , 1848 . His parents were Rebecca  and George Latimer, he was the youngest of four children. On September 16th , 1863 Latimer joined the U.S navy and served as a landman. In July 1863 he received an honorable discharge from the navy and started working at Crosby Halstead  and Gould a patent law firm. Latimer then went on to marry a women by the name of Mary Wilson Lewis,they got married in fall river, Massachusetts on November 15th 1873. Their daughter Emma Jeanette was born June 12th 1883. on April 19th , 1890 their 2nd daughter Louise Rebeca was born . On December 11th 1928 Lewis latimer died in Queens New York
